Singapore, April 04 (QNA) - Qatar's men's national 3x3 basketball team will face China on Sunday in the quarterfinals of the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup currently underway in Singapore, aiming to continue their campaign in one of the tournament's strongest editions, featuring top teams from Asia and Oceania.

The tournament brings together 22 teams: Mongolia, China, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, Australia, Chinese Taipei, the Philippines, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Tonga, Thailand, Turkmenistan, South Korea, Hong Kong, India, Vietnam, Macau, the Maldives, and Qatar.

Qatar heads into the match following its group stage campaign, which began with a solid 16-11 win over India in the opening game of Group D. The team imposed its style early through disciplined defense and organized offense, capitalizing on close-range opportunities and neutralizing India's key players.

In their second match, Qatar faced a tougher challenge against New Zealand, one of the continent's leading teams, and lost 11-21.

Based on the Group D standings, Qatar finished second behind New Zealand, with both teams advancing to the knockout rounds.

China enters the clash after competing in Group B, where it opened with a narrow 19-21 loss to Malaysia before quickly bouncing back with an important 21-15 win over Australia to secure a place in the quarterfinals.

The Qatar delegation in Singapore is headed by Secretary-General of the Qatar Basketball Federation and Director of National Teams, Saadoun Sabah Al Kuwari, alongside Captain Yaseen Ismail, Director of 3x3 National Teams. The team is coached by Marco and features players Mohammed Hashem Zidan, Mubarak Jama, Dejan Janic, and Nedim Muslic. (QNA)
