Kuwaiti Defense Ministry Destroys 12 Ballistic Missiles, Successfully Engages 23 Drones Over 48 Hours
Kuwait City, March 7 (QNA) - The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense announced Saturday that its armed forces destroyed 12 ballistic missiles throughout the past 48 hours and successfully engaged 23 drones, with minor material damage being recorded and no casualties among the armed forces.
During a press briefing on the current situation and the latest field developments throughout the past 48 hours, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, Col. Saud Al Atwan, clarified that 14 ballistic missiles have been tracked and 12 of them have been destroyed, while two missiles couldn't be engaged as they were beyond the threat zone.
The Kuwaiti armed forces are at the highest alert and readiness posture and operate around the clock with persistent and precise monitoring of all field developments in full coordination with military and security apparatuses, as well as a variety of state institutions, he assured.
For his part, Director of Moral Guidance and National Guard Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Dr. Jadaan Fadel announced that the Kuwaiti National Guard shot down a missile at dawn today without recording human casualties or material damage.
Addressing the press briefing, Fadel pointed out that contingency plans have been effectuated, in addition to elevating high combat readiness since the start of the crisis. He noted that critical sites have been secured, recalling that backing has been provided to the Ministries of Defense and Interior, as well as the General Fire Force (KFF).
Fadel indicated that a duty force has been formed to cover 27 sites, along with establishing specialized teams to handle the remaining missiles and rocket shrapnel. (QNA)
