Beirut, March 5 (QNA) - Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun briefed his French counterpart, President Emmanuel Macron, in a phone call Thursday on the latest developments concerning the security situation in Lebanon.

A statement by the Lebanese Presidency indicated that President Aoun asked the French President to intervene with the Israeli side to prevent the targeting of Beirut's southern suburbs following threats made against its residents by the Israeli military leadership, urging them to evacuate. He also requested action to achieve a ceasefire as quickly as possible.

Separately, French President Emmanuel Macron and Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri spoke about the situation in Lebanon, the developments of the Israeli aggression, and the recent events in Beirut's southern suburbs, including the displacement of its residents.

According to a statement by the Lebanese Parliament, Berri noted d that he discussed with the French President several proposals that would stop this matter, and that President Macron showed full interest in the proposals and readiness to make the necessary contacts and send aid to Lebanon as quickly as possible.
