Kuwaiti Cabinet Condemns Iran's Attack on Service Facility at Power and Water Plants
Kuwait City, March 31 (QNA) - The Kuwaiti Cabinet convened Tuesday, chaired by HH Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and strongly condemned Iran's targeting of a service facility at one of the power and desalination plants on Monday, which killed a worker and caused material damage.
The cabinet also strongly condemned the malignant action plotting to execute acts of terrorism in Bahrain, in which investigations exposed foreign links with Hezbollah to destabilize security.
The State of Kuwait fully stands with the Kingdom of Bahrain and totally rejects terrorism in all its forms and stands in solidarity with Bahrain in all efforts to protect security and stability in the GCC nations, the Cabinet underlined.
It further welcomed the resolution rendered by the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) last Wednesday during its 61st session convened in Geneva, which received unanimity on the human rights implications of the Iranian unprovoked attacks that targeted the GCC countries and Jordan.
This resolution epitomizes the consensus of the international community rejecting the Iranian savage assaults, the Cabinet noted, emphasizing that the UN deplores targeting the territory of a sovereign nation that has not engaged in any conflict.
It underlined that these Iranian attacks engendered gross violations of fundamental rights and posed a direct threat to regional and global peace and security.
Overall, the Cabinet applauded the flat-out condemnation of the aggression that targeted civilians and critical infrastructure, resulting in severe casualties and material damage.
In addition, the Cabinet commended the global unanimity of the inevitability that Iran would live up to its international legal obligations, foremost of which is respecting nations' sovereignty and territorial integrity.
It stressed that these actions are required to push Iran toward immediately ceasing hostilities, ensuring that they would not happen again, and upholding its responsibilities to undertake reparations for the damages arising from these acts.
The Cabinet suggested it is vitally important for the international community to enforce close monitoring mechanisms to execute the content put out in that resolution, to ensure the rule of law is protected and the precepts of the UN Charter are prioritized. (QNA)
