IGU President Calls for Further Investment in Gas Industry, Developing Infrastructure
Oran, March 30 (QNA) - President of the International Gas Union (IGU) Andrea Stegher called for continued investment in the gas industry and for developing infrastructure at the right time and scale.
This came during his speech at the opening of the Algerian Gas Industry Association (AIG) 8th Symposium, held under the theme, "Natural Gas and Hydrogen: Innovation for a Sustainable and Resilient Industry," running for two days.
The President of the IGU stated that the role of the gas industry remains central in several respects, whether in meeting current consumer needs or ensuring energy access for future generations, noting that this approach has become clear among industry stakeholders as well as consumers, who see gas as a practical energy option.
Stegher pointed to the growing energy demand linked to artificial intelligence and data centers, saying that gas remains an indispensable solution in the short term for meeting this increasing demand while reducing carbon intensity, alongside renewable energy. (QNA)
