Arab League Condemns Israeli Death Penalty Law for Palestinian Prisoners
Cairo, March 31 (QNA) - The Arab League strongly condemned the Israeli entity's approval of a law providing for the death penalty for Palestinian prisoners, saying it violates the most basic principles of international humanitarian law and undermines the foundations of justice, while entrenching discrimination against Palestinians and constituting a form of apartheid.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the League said the law reflects the dominance of an extremist faction over political decision-making in Israel, describing it as part of a broader pattern of measures aimed at restricting the Palestinian presence, violating remaining rights, and paving the way for the annexation of the West Bank.
The League also criticized what it described as the international community's failure to take effective action against such policies, warning that Israel's actions risk fueling further escalation in the Palestinian territories and across the region. (QNA)
