Egyptian Foreign Minister Discusses Regional De-escalation Efforts with UN Secretary-General by Phone
Cairo, March 27 (QNA) - Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty discussed the latest developments in the Middle East in a phone call on Friday with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
During the call, the two sides exchanged assessments of the military escalation in the region and its grave repercussions, particularly on freedom of navigation and supply chains, which are linked to food security, ensuring the flow of fertilizers needed for agriculture, and energy security.
They also discussed the mediation efforts undertaken by Egypt, Turkiye, and Pakistan between the United States and Iran, which are supported by the United Nations.
Furthermore, they reviewed the situation in Gaza and the efforts to implement all aspects of the second phase of the US President's plan, including the deployment of the international stabilization force, enabling the committee managing the Gaza Strip to begin its work in preparation for the Palestinian Authority to resume its responsibilities.
They also discussed the Israeli escalation in Lebanon and the need to halt it. (QNA)
