Lebanese President Meets UK Defense Official, Discusses Israeli Strikes
Beirut, March 24 (QNA) - Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun met on Tuesday with United Kingdom's Senior Defense Advisor for the Middle East and North Africa Admiral Edward Ahlgren, currently visiting Lebanon.
The meeting discussed Israeli attacks on Lebanon, which have resulted in more than a thousand casualties and hundreds of injuries, in addition to the displacement of nearly one million Lebanese citizens and widespread destruction across towns and villages subjected to bombardment.
According to a statement issued by the Lebanese presidency, Aoun said that Israeli strikes targeting bridges aim to isolate villages and towns south of the Litani River from the rest of the country, noting the negative repercussions of what he described as a condemned act.
The Lebanese president added that his ongoing meetings with senior officials and political parties are aimed at strengthening internal security and national unity, and preserving the cohesion of Lebanese society.
He expressed confidence that the Lebanese people stand united in confronting current challenges.
For his part, Admiral Edward Algren reaffirmed the United Kingdom's support for Lebanon amid the difficult circumstances it is facing. (QNA)
