Bahrain's King, Egyptian President Discuss Regional Developments, Impact on Stability
Manama, March 21 (QNA) - King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain discussed on Saturday in Manama with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi regional developments and their repercussions on security and stability in the region, as well as ongoing Iranian attacks targeting countries in the region.
During the meeting, both sides affirmed that the Iranian attacks constitute a violation of state sovereignty and of international laws and norms, and pose a threat to international peace and security.
They also stressed the utmost importance of halting Iran's threats to disrupt freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital international passage for energy transport and global trade, in violation of international law and the law of the sea.
They emphasized that protecting maritime routes is a shared international responsibility requiring cooperation from all countries in the region and the world.
The two sides also underscored the provisions of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which strongly condemned and called for the immediate cessation of all attacks carried out by Iran against Gulf Arab states and Jordan, and demanded an immediate and unconditional halt to any provocations or threats against neighboring countries.
