Oil Production Suspended as Precautionary Measure in Three Fields in Iraqi Kurdistan
Baghdad, March 2 (QNA) - ShaMaran Petroleum Company in Iraqi Kurdistan has announced that its partners and operators at the Atrush and Sarsang oil fields in Duhok Governorate have informed them of a temporary halt to oil production as a precautionary measure.
The company added that the security situation in the region is the reason for the production stoppage, and that the measure is precautionary and not due to any damage to the fields or their resources.
On another note, Gulf Keystone, operating the Sheikhan field, announced today the suspension of oil production as a precautionary step due to the security situation. The field produces 44,000 barrels of oil per day.
Last Saturday, Dana Gas halted natural gas production from the Kor Mor field in the Chamchamal district of Sulaimaniyah Governorate. This field produces 750 million cubic feet per day and supplies the majority of the Kurdistan Region's electricity. (QNA)
