Kuwait Announces Foiling of Terror Plot Targeting Vital State Facilities
Kuwait, March 18 (QNA) - The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior announced Wednesday evening that the State Security Agency successfully foiled a terrorist plot targeting vital facilities in the country, following intensive surveillance and security investigations. The ministry noted the arrest of 10 citizens belonging to a terrorist group affiliated with the banned Hezbollah organization, who had engaged in prior planning and coordination with external entities, seeking to relay coordinates of the targeted sites, posing a direct threat to national security.
Official spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior Brigadier General Nasser Bousleib stated during the media briefing of the Government Communication Center on the current situation today that this comes as another preemptive strike aimed at dismantling sleeper cells attempting to disrupt the country’s security.
Brig. Gen. Bousleib indicated that investigations revealed the cell members received external training in camps affiliated with Hezbollah, including weapons handling and drone operations as part of preparations to carry out these destructive operations, which aimed to undermine state sovereignty, destabilize the country, and instill fear and terror in society.
He confirmed that the suspects provided detailed confessions regarding these activities.
He added that the Ministry of Interior will deal with the utmost firmness with anyone proven to be involved in harming our national security or collaborating with such terrorist groups, and will not hesitate to deliver decisive strikes against any threat, affirming that the security and sovereignty of the State of Kuwait are protected, and security personnel will continue tracking and exposing all those behind these terrorist plots, taking the maximum legal penalties and measures without leniency or exception.
