Egypt, China Hold Talks in Cairo on Dangerous Developments in the Middle East
Cairo, March 17 (QNA) - Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met Tuesday with Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue, Zhai Jun, during his visit to Cairo as part of a regional tour to some countries in the region.
Both sides discussed the perilous developments playing out in the Middle East region, as well as the bilateral relationship, with Abdelatty cautioning against the steep consequences of the ongoing military escalation and the conflict spillover.
He stressed the criticality of de-escalation and prioritizing domestic paths and the language of dialogue and reason to prevent the region from being plunged into all-out chaos.
Regarding developments in the Palestinian territory, Abdelatty underlined that the war in the region should not overlook the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in the Gaza Strip.
He stressed that what matters most is to scramble to enable the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) to discharge its duties across the enclave as a fundamental step toward administering the transitional phase, culminating in helping the Palestinian National Authority bear its full responsibility in the Gaza Strip and West Bank.
Abdelatty further noted the significance of backing early recovery and reconstruction efforts, as well as improving the humanitarian situation in the enclave.
For his part, Jun hailed the pivotal role Egypt undertakes in supporting security and stability in the region, alongside its efforts to strengthen security and stability in the Middle East and lend impetus to the paths of political settlement for a variety of conflicts in the region. (QNA)
