Syrian Interior Ministry Arrests 12 ISIS-Affiliated Individuals
Damascus, March 15 (QNA) - The Syrian authorities have announced that 12 individuals affiliated with the ISIS group have been apprehended, among them kingpins, in the eastern country.
A statement by the Syrian Interior Ministry clarified that the operation was conducted by the internal security force in coordination with the General Intelligence Directorate, following close surveillance and tracking of individuals associated with activities that pose a threat to the region and its stability.
The field-enforced measures culminated in busting seven people in the Abu Kamal area, alongside five others in the Al-Basira area, among them kingpins of this group, the statement added.
The ministry further noted that investigations are underway with all those apprehended individuals by the authoritative agencies, based on legal rules, ahead of taking essential judicial measures against them.
Syrian Internal Security Forces in Deir ez‑Zor conducted an operation in late February that resulted in the capture of an ISIS member involved in targeting a member of the Ministry of Defense’s 86th Division, which led to his death. (QNA)
