Arab League Warns against Israeli Decision to Bar MSF from Operating in Gaza Strip
Cairo, March 15 (QNA) - The Arab League, on Sunday, warned of the dangerous consequences of the Israeli occupation authorities' decision to bar Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) - 'Doctors Without Borders' and all other international organizations from operating in the Gaza Strip.
The League said that such a move would have catastrophic consequences for international humanitarian work and deprive hundreds of thousands of people of urgent medical care in the Strip and the West Bank.
According to the League's statement, this came during the meeting of Arab League Assistant Secretary-General and head of the League's Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Sector Ambassador Faed Mustafa with a MSF delegation headed byآ Regional Humanitarian Representative for the Middle East and North Africa at MSF Reem Mougheith.
The Arab League Assistant Secretary-General called on the international community to pressure the Israeli occupation authorities to lift any ban targeting humanitarian, relief, and medical organizations in the occupied Palestinian territories, saying that such a ban would cut off life-saving medical assistance from hundreds of thousands of people.
Ambassador Mustafa pointed out that international organizations operate and support the majority of field hospitals and primary health care centers in the Gaza Strip, as well as emergency shelter responses, water and sanitation services, and nutrition stabilization centers for children with severe acute malnutrition.
He noted that halting their work would make it impossible to meet all urgent needs at the required scale, further worsening the health and humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. (QNA)
