Cairo, March 15 (QNA) - The Council of Arab Information Ministers on Sunday urged Arab media outlets to stick to the official statements and information rendered by the Arab nations that are affected by Iranian attacks.

In a statement, the council stressed that this measure is essential to thwart the deliberate lies being circulated on the objectives of these attacks, emphasizing that it is closely monitoring the developments playing out in the region, particularly the assaults, military offensives, threats, and provocative acts that have been mounted by Iran on some Arab nations, namely State of Qatar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, State of Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Bahrain, Sultanate of Oman, Jordan, and Iraq.

The council underscored that it is important for public and private Arab media outlets to be collaborative in relaying the facts to the Arab public using the official statements and information published by the relevant nations so as to debunk the circulated disinformation and lies on these assaults.

The statement stressed the criticality of invoking accuracy when news is handled and substantially depending on reliable sources amid the information and analytical stuff being posted on social media platforms gleaned from unknown sources, which could redound to instigating seditions and offence against the relationships among Arab countries.

As such, the council called for overall Arab cooperation to apprise the global public opinion of the facts about the Iranian assaults on the Arab nations and the consequent breach of their sovereignty through communicating with international media circles and supplying them with facts and rectifying the fallacies being circulated.

The Iranian attacks on some Arab nations had mostly targeted civilian facilities and infrastructure, as well as the gains and wealth of Arab peoples, compromising the security of citizens, residents, and visitors, the statement said.

The council further stressed that no confusion should be made between the position on the military operations, the ongoing Iran-Israel-US conflict and the Iranian, on one hand, and the Iranian attacks that targeted some Arab nations.

The statement underlined that any position regarding the ongoing conflict does not justify conflating it with Iranian attacks that targeted objectives in Arab countries that neither initiated aggression against Iran nor used their forces to attack it.

The council urged users of social media platforms to never be buoyed by the rumors that mostly intend to drive a wedge between Arab peoples, emphasizing that the current phase requires expression of Arab solidarity with nations that are coming under aggression and safeguard the Arab position unity.

The council further called on Arab media, with its wide-ranging conventional and digital types, to undertake their awareness role both for the Arab and global public opinions and get them familiarized with the facts about the ongoing developments to confirm that these Iranian attacks on some Arab nations amount to unprovoked assault on peaceful countries.

The council extended its greetings to Arab media outlets that relayed the incident developments professionally and responsibly, which redounded to substantially projecting Arab solidarity with the nations that came under these assaults. (QNA)
