WHO Warns of Hindrance to Medical Supplies Access in Gaza
Geneva, March 14 (QNA) - The World Health Organization (WHO) warned that Israeli enforced restrictions at Karm Abu Salem Crossing are hindering the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, as no medicines or medical supplies have been allowed through, while entry of shipments has been limited to fuel only.
According to a statement on its official website on Saturday, WHO teams unloaded shipments at the crossing, but were not permitted to collect them, including approximately 50 intensive care unit (ICU) beds and 170 consignments of medicines.
The organization noted that, according to the weekly schedule, no incoming supplies will be unloaded at the crossing on Saturday or Sunday.
WHO confirmed that the Karm Abu Salem Crossing remains the only open entry point into the Gaza Strip since the start of the regional escalation, adding that daily communication with Israeli authorities aims to allow more vital humanitarian supplies into the Strip to meet the urgent needs of the population.
