Kuwait Defense Ministry Reports Handling 5 Ballistic Missiles, 7 Drones in 24 Hours
Kuwait, March 12 (QNA) - The Kuwait Ministry of Defense announced Thursday that its air defense systems detected five hostile ballistic missiles, intercepting and destroying four of them while one fell outside the threat zone.
In addition, seven hostile drones were engaged, with five destroyed and two remaining outside the threat range.
The official spokesperson for the ministry Colonel Saud Al Atwan said during a media briefing on the current events and latest field developments that the armed forces had confronted a wave of hostile aerial targets that entered the country's airspace over the past 24 hours.
He noted that one hostile drone targeted a residential building in a southern region early today, resulting in two injuries and material damage, with the injured receiving necessary medical treatment.
He added that another hostile drone targeted Kuwait International Airport, causing minor material damage without any injuries.
The spokesperson also pointed out that some power lines went out of service due to falling debris from the interception operations.
He explained that the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit of the Ground Forces Engineering Corps dealt with and neutralized eight explosive devices as part of ongoing field efforts.
He affirmed that the Kuwait Armed Forces' efforts continue in coordination with all military sectors in the country to protect Kuwait's airspace, safeguard its territory, and maintain its security and stability with firm determination. (QNA)
