Doha, February 9 (QNA) - A delegation from the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games Organizing Committee paid a field visit to Lusail Boulevard as part of preparations for the Fun Run, which will be held under the auspices of the OCA, coinciding with Qatar National Sports Day on Tuesday.

The visit by the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games Organizing Committee delegation is part of the OCA's Asian Games for All campaign, aimed at raising awareness of the Games and showcasing its accompanying promotional activities and programs.

The OCA delegation included Director of Media Mubarak Al Buainain, Director of Media and Broadcasting Jian Zhou, Video and Photography Supervisor in the Technology and Information Systems Department Ramiredi Kona, and Head of Sports Management at the OCA Degant Tiwari.

The delegation from the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games Organizing Committee included Acting Director General Yasuhiro Nakamori, and a member of the Organizing Committee's Public Relations Department Manami Okumura.

During the visit, Head of the Technical Committee for the Qatar Olympic Committee Ahmed Al Jaber 2026 Half Marathon, briefed the visiting delegation on the one-kilometer fun run for children, covering the starting and finishing areas, organizational and safety procedures, and the services provided to participants.

This visit is part of a series of promotional tours being made by the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games Organizing Committee in several Asian countries.

The aim is to broaden participation and ensure a strong presence at the highly anticipated event, which will be held in Japan from Sep. 19 to Oct. 4. This reflects the Committee's vision of showcasing the Games as a platform for fair competition and strengthening ties between the nations of the continent.

On this occasion, Al Buainain expressed delight to welcome the delegation from the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games Organizing Committee and members of the OCA to the Qatar Olympic Committee’s 2026 Half Marathon and the Al Adaam Village and Fun Run events, held under the auspices of the OCA to mark Qatar National Sports Day.

He added that National Sports Day was an important national occasion to promote the role of sports in society, emphasizing that these initiatives align with the OCA’s vision of supporting the participation of all segments of society in sports activities and spreading the culture of sports as a way of life, thus contributing to achieving the health, social, and humanitarian goals of the sports movement across the Asian continent.

For his part, Nakamori affirmed that the concept of One Asia embodies the spirit of unity that brings together 45 Asian countries and regions under the umbrella of the Asian Games, promoting the values of peace in Asia and contributing to the consolidation of global peace, in addition to supporting the development of the sports movement.

He added that his visit of Qatar during the Doha 2006 Asian Games left a profound impression on him, mentioning in particular the dazzling opening ceremony and the state-of-the-art sports facilities that contributed to the Games’ success.

Nakamori expressed his confidence that the Doha 2030 Asian Games will be a landmark event in promoting peace and unity among Asian nations, emphasizing that Doha will continue its leadership in launching initiatives that support the health, well-being, and quality of life of the continent’s people.

He concluded by underscoring the pivotal role of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) in supporting the success of the Asian Games, noting the keenness of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games Organizing Committee to strengthen cooperation with the Doha 2030 Asian Games Organizing Committee, including the move towards signing a memorandum of understanding to enhance the exchange of expertise and ensure the success of both Games.
