QSRF Holds Its 2026 Ordinary General Assembly Meeting
Doha, February 08 (QNA) - The Qatar Sailing and Rowing Federation (QSRF) has held its regular annual general assembly meeting for the 2026 season. The meeting discussed a number of key agenda items, most notably the federation's activities and external participations for the upcoming sports season.
President of QSRF, Rashid Majed Al Sulaiti chaired the meeting, which was attended by the majority of the members along with Abdulla Yousef Al Abdullah, representative of the Qatar Olympic Committee, who confirmed the validity of the meeting after the required legal quorum was met.
Secretary-General of the QSRF, Ali Nasser Telfat opened the meeting, and presented the agenda items, which focused on the sports activity programs and the proposed action plan for the 2026 season.
In his address, Al Sulaity affirmed that the federation continues its efforts to achieve its objectives, stressing the importance of supporting sailing and rowing through performance development, increased participation, and enhanced visibility of both sports.
He noted that during the 2025 season, the federation resumed its sporting activities after several years of suspension, including the organization of the Qatar International Optimist Championship, held from February 3 to 8, 2025.
Al Sulaity added that the federation's strategy focuses on preparing and developing athletes in sailing and rowing through daily training programs and training camps, with the aim of achieving further accomplishments and advanced results in upcoming local, regional, and international competitions.
He emphasized the federation's determination to fulfill its mission of serving sports in the State of Qatar by organizing various activities in sailing and rowing, improving performance levels, and enhancing achievements at all levels, extending his appreciation to the Qatar Olympic Committee for its continued support.
The Ordinary General Assembly reviewed the federation's achievements during the 2025 season and its aspirations for the new season, including increasing events and activities aimed at developing sailing and rowing competitions and creating a new generation of talented athletes capable of joining age-group national teams and representing Qatar in international and Olympic events.
The meeting also addressed the federation's relocation to its current administrative headquarters in the Ras Bu Aboud area in January 2026, as well as the commencement of preparations for a kitesurfing facility in the Zekreet area. In addition, the General Assembly approved the minutes of the previous meeting, endorsed the budget for the fiscal year ending 2025, reviewed the auditor's report, the Board's annual report for 2025, and approved the activity programs and proposed action plan for the 2026 season.
Ali Nasser Telfat reviewed the federation's activities during the 2025 season, which included organizing the Qatar International Optimist Championship, participating in the 3rd GCC Beach Games in Oman, the Asian Open Championship (ILCA 4) in China, the Japan Coastal Rowing Championship, and the African Optimist Championship in Tanzania.
Telfat stressed that the federation aims to build a broad base of young talents to strengthen the national teams in sailing and rowing, noting that the 2026 calendar includes 10 different activities, comprising six sailing events and four rowing events. (QNA)
