UN: One Person Killed in Aid Convoy Attack in North Kordofan
Cairo, February 07 (QNA) - UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan Denise Brown reported that an attack Friday targeted a World Food Programme aid convoy in North Kordofan, killing one person and injuring others.
The convoy was delivering life-saving food to displaced people in Al Obeid when it was attacked, causing trucks to burn and supplies to be destroyed.
Last week, a drone strike near a WFP facility in Blue Nile State injured a staff member.
The independent group Emergency Lawyers blamed the Rapid Support Forces for the attack, while Sudan Doctors Network called it a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, amounting to a war crime.
Fighting between the Sudanese army and Rapid Support Forces that began on April 15, 2023, has killed thousands and displaced millions. (QNA)
