Rich Ramadan 2026 TV and Radio Programs in the Offing, QMC Unveils Lineup
Doha, February 04 (QNA) - Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) has unveiled the agenda for the Holy Month of Ramadan 2026, which will be held under the theme "The Best of Moon Sightings Has Returned", showcasing a bountiful bundle of TV and radio works that will meet the aspirations of both the Qatari and Arab audiences.
QMC further explained that these programs are in the offing and literally focus on the combination of religious values, national identity, and premium entertainment, underscoring QMC's pioneering role, which has been ongoing for over 56 years of uniqueness.
Qatar Television's Ramadan programming lineup will include 18 diverse programs and four standout drama series, featuring main religious shows, competition and interactive programs, and television drama.
The schedule comprises primary religious programs, interactive and competition shows, and TV drama, including a historical epic series, a comedy series, and two social drama series.
Regarding the Ramadan programming, this special season will feature rich content and varied religious programming, targeting Qatari sheikhs in particular, in addition to religious scholars from outside Qatar, including a prestigious and purposeful historical drama, as well as variety programs on Qatar Television, Director of Qatar Television Ali Saleh Al Sada told Qatar News Agency (QNA) following the press conference held today to announce this agenda.
Al Sada highlighted that this year's season will also feature the return of the renowned Qatari artist Ghanem Al Sulaiti through a family-oriented, educational drama series, alongside a comedy series starring Saad Bakhit, Abdulnasser Darwish, Ahmed Al Aonan, and Salwa Bakhit, as well as many other programs, including competition and interactive shows.
For his part, Assistant Director of Qatar Television Saoud Al Maadeed underlined that the television has been operating for a long period to prepare a lineup that strengthens civilizational belonging and Qatari identity.
He noted that the television is set to showcase the expertise of Qatari enthusiastic and creative young people, who have obviously succeeded in generating a programming lineup that best suits the television as it closes a 56-year shining and excellent journey.
Al Maadeed asserted that he is confident that the television during this Ramadan will be the primary screen for all people of Qatar and residents, underscoring that the focus is fundamentally distributed as follows: religious programs with 42%, drama and entertainment with 15%, miscellaneous programs with 12%, children's programs with 8%, as well as awareness and social bundles with 4% each.
Assistant General Program Supervisor at Qatar Radio, Mubarak Alkubaisi, highlighted that the radio this year will broadcast combined programs, in terms of live and recorded broadcasts for this Ramadan within 123 bundles, sharply focusing on direct public interaction and cultural depth.
The lineup will showcase a daily educational program focusing on expounding religious texts, a daily quiz show aimed at deepening knowledge in a competitive format, and a live daily program covering the main Ramadan events in the nation, noted Alkubaisi.
He recalled that weekly programs are focused on domestic and international health and sports topics, as well as pre-recorded radio programs ranging from radio dramas, educational and values-based programs, to cultural heritage programs highlighting traditions and history.
In addition, the lineup will feature family-friendly children's programming and cooking shows, providing a variety of entertaining and service-oriented content for viewers of all ages, Alkubaisi pointed out, indicating that the accompanying foreign radio services and the variety of programs will broadcast via Oryx FM (French service), Urdu Radio FM 107, and QBS Radio 97.5 FM.
For his part, Head of Programs at Alkass Sports Channels, Mohamed Al Marzouqi, unveiled a combined plan between programming and field organization works for tournaments as part of the social partnership.
He pointed out that these kinds of programs are laser-focused on health awareness and the importance of practicing sports during Ramadan, as well as a whole raft of events through a network of young correspondents.
There are epic tournaments in the offing during this Ramadan, namely the 16th Ramadan Football Cup and the 5th Ramadan Padel Cup, devoted to Qatari participants with 128 teams, alongside popular shows and programs, as well as coverage of major events such as the Amir Cup, the AFC Champions League, and horse racing events, Al Marzouqi asserted.
Head of the Religious Programs Department at Qatar Radio, Jaber Abdullah Al Breidy, revealed that an extraordinary course has been programmed to address a variety of community segments, focusing on promoting religious tenets and faith, as well as the culture of the Holy Qur'an, foremost of which are completing the proper recitation and memorization of the Qur'an.
The programming will showcase live broadcasts of Taraweeh and Qiyam prayers from Imam Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab Mosque, along with recorded educational lectures and workshops by acclaimed scholars, Al Breidy suggested.
Media Professional and Program Presenter at Sout Al Khaleej Radio, Adel Abdullah, stated that a course that aligns with the Qatari and Gulf identity is in the offing for this Ramadan, whose broadcast transcends to Arab and European capitals, with a sharp focus on extensive knowledge messages.
Overall, convening this press conference was part of QMC's objectives to present informative TV and radio content that consolidates the stature of Qatar's TV and radio, as well as other essential platforms, to broadcast premium and incredible content for Qataris and residents, in pursuit of spreading the time-honored Qatari culture across the entire Arab region.
