MSF Warns of Catastrophic Impact as Israeli Occupation Halts Its Activities in Gaza

Geneva, February 3 (QNA) – Secretary-general of Doctors Without Borders (MSF), Christopher Lockyear, warned that the Israeli occupation authorities' decision to halt the organization's activities in the Gaza Strip would have catastrophic consequences for the Strip's residents.

"We are at a moment where Palestinian people need more humanitarian assistance, not less. Ceasing MSF activities is going to be catastrophic for the people of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank”, Lockyear said in a statement

The Organization provided more than 800,000 medical consultations and treated over 100,000 injuries last year, in addition to providing more than 700 million liters of water in the Strip, he added.

Lockyear pointed out that the MSF has been unable to deliver medical supplies to Gaza since December 2025, following the 60-day ultimatum issued by the occupation authorities.

He added that it has been clear the MSF will not receive clear assurances regarding the safety of its staff, condemning what he called an "orchestrated campaign" to delegitimize the organization.

The Israeli occupation authorities recently decided to end the activities of Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in the Gaza Strip, and informed them that they must stop their humanitarian operations and leave the Strip by February 28, in a move that threatens to deprive hundreds of thousands of Palestinians of basic medical services, in light of the near-total collapse of the health system.
