Iranian FM Reports Positive Progress in US Nuclear Talks
Geneva, February 27 (QNA) - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed that the latest round of nuclear negotiations with the United States marked one of the longest and most serious sessions to date, highlighting significant progress.
Speaking to reporters after the talks in Geneva, Araghchi said the discussions lasted about four hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon.
He said this was one of the most serious and extended rounds of negotiations, and good progress was achieved.
The talks were held indirectly, mediated by Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi facilitating technical discussions.
Araghchi emphasized that both mediators played crucial roles in ensuring productive dialogue.
He noted that both sides engaged in detailed discussions on key elements of a potential agreement, covering nuclear issues and sanctions. Some issues reportedly approached mutual understanding.
Araghchi added that technical teams from the IAEA will begin reviews on Monday to address specific technical matters, which will then be aligned with political considerations of both parties. The next round of negotiations is scheduled within a week. (QNA)
