Washington, February 24 (QNA) – The US military announced the killing of three people in a strike targeting a drug-smuggling vessel in the Caribbean.

US Southern Command said in a statement on X platform that the strike was conducted on a vessel belonging to designated terrorist organizations.

“Intelligence confirmed the vessel was transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Caribbean and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations”, the statement added.

Since the beginning of September 2015, the United States has been targeting vessels suspected of involvement in smuggling activities, resulting in the deaths of dozens of people to date.

Military action against suspected drug traffickers was included in the National Defense Strategy recently issued by the administration of US President Donald Trump. (QNA)
