South Korea Protests Japan over Dokdo Islets
Seoul, February 22 (QNA) - South Korea's Foreign Ministry on Sunday summoned a Japanese diplomat to protest annual regional event in Japan regarding Tokyo's sovereignty over Dokdo islets in East Sea.
The ministry called in Deputy chief of mission at the Japanese Embassy in Seoul, Hirotaka Matsu, to lodge a strong protest over the event held in Shimane Prefecture in western Japan.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Park Il said in a statement that they once again strongly urge the immediate cancellation of the event, adding: "Dokdo is clearly an integral part of our territory in terms of history, geography and international law." (QNA)
