4th Edition of The Pearl Ramadan Beach Volleyball Championship Kicks Off Tomorrow
Doha, February 22 (QNA) - The fourth edition of the Eqbes Beach Volleyball Championship gets under way on Monday at The Pearl Island, with competition running until the 18th of the holy month of Ramadan.
Twelve teams have been drawn into four groups of three, with the top two from each group advancing to the quarter-finals.
The tournament will be played in a single round-robin format during the group stage. Monday's opening fixtures see Lekhwiya face Seashore, the Ministry of Interior take on Al Rayyan, and Al Markhiya meet Khalifa City.
Organizers have allocated QR600,000 in prizes for fans attending the tournament while total prize money for the top three teams has been increased to QR200,000.
Tournament director Abdullah Nasser Al Yafie said fans can expect strong competition, noting a rise in technical standards and incentives for teams and supporters alike.
Launched in 2023 at Aspire Zone, the tournament was later staged at Doha Port, reflecting efforts to expand its reach and enhance its appeal as both a sporting and entertainment event. (QNA)
