New York, February 19 (QNA) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned Thursday of the continued deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, due to restrictions on the delivery of humanitarian aid.

In a statement posted on its X platform, the agency said that the humanitarian conditions in the Strip remain extremely difficult.

It noted that it continues its work and provides essential services to displaced persons, including healthcare, education, shelter, food assistance, and protection services, through its network spread across the Gaza Strip.

The UNRWA stressed that restrictions on humanitarian access limit its ability to expand its response, calling for these restrictions to be lifted to enable it to meet the growing needs of the population.

The statement added that the continued restrictions, coupled with the expanding scope of humanitarian needs, exacerbate the suffering of civilians and undermine efforts to provide even the most basic services.

UNRWA is the main UN agency responsible for providing services to millions of Palestinian refugees in its five areas of operation, including the Gaza Strip, where a large portion of the population depends on its essential services.

Since March 2025, the Israeli occupation authorities have prevented UNRWA aid from reaching Gaza.

At the end of 2024, the occupation authorities banned UNRWA operations in occupied East Jerusalem.

Despite the ceasefire agreement in effect since last October, the occupation authorities continue to prevent the entry of the agreed-upon quantities of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. (QNA)
