Gaza, February 19 (QNA) - The Government Media Office in Gaza said Thursday that 640 Palestinians have been able to travel through the Rafah crossing since the beginning of February, while 508 have returned to the Strip. Israeli occupation authorities prevented 26 people from traveling.

In a statement, the office noted that the crossing was completely closed last Friday and Saturday. It indicated that the total number of travelers in both directions since the crossing reopened has reached 1,148, out of 3,400 who are expected to travel through it, representing a compliance rate of approximately 33 percent.

Head of the Palestinian National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), Ali Shaath had previously affirmed that the reopening of the Rafah land crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt is not merely an administrative procedure, but rather the beginning of a new path and a genuine window of hope for Palestinians in the Strip.

He explained that the operation of the crossing embodies a collaborative achievement with the participation of partners committed to facilitating movement, considering it a fundamental element of the 20-point plan presented by US President Donald Trump to end the war in the Gaza Strip. (QNA)
