Egypt, Jordan Underline Importance of Implementing Phase 2 of Trump's Gaza Plan
New York, February 19 (QNA) - Egyptian Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelatty and his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi on Thursday emphasized the necessity of implementing the second phase of US President Donald Trump's plan for the Gaza Strip.
During their meeting in New York, the two ministers stressed the importance of the National Committee for the Administration of the Gaza Strip assuming its responsibilities from within the Strip, the swift deployment of the international stabilization force to monitor the ceasefire, ensuring the continued and unhindered flow of humanitarian aid, and paving the way for early recovery and reconstruction, while preserving the unity of Palestinian territory.
They also condemned Israeli decisions regarding the annexation of lands in the occupied West Bank and the expansion of settlement activities, in flagrant violation of international law, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.
Regarding preparations for the first meeting of the Peace Council in Washington, both sides emphasized the importance of creating the appropriate conditions for launching a serious and credible political process leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, thereby achieving security and stability in the region.
With respect to bilateral cooperation, Abdelatty and Safadi expressed their commitment to continuing close political consultations and intensifying coordination in the coming period, reflecting the special nature of the relationship between the two countries and their pivotal role in supporting regional security and stability.
