Omani Foreign Minister: Iran-US Negotiations in Geneva Achieve Good Progress
Geneva, February 17 (QNA) - Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi has said that the indirect negotiations between the United States and Iran in Geneva, which concluded Tuesday, "achieved good progress" towards identifying common goals and related technical issues.
The minister was quoted by Oman News Agency (ONA) as saying: "The spirit of our meetings was constructive. Together we made serious efforts to define a number of guiding principles for a final deal. The contribution of the IAEA Director General was much appreciated. Much work is yet to be done, and the parties left with clear next steps before the next meeting."
The latest round of indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington began on Friday, February 6, in Muscat, where the Iranian and the US delegations exchanged views, observations, and approaches through the Omani Foreign Minister, acting as mediator.
Both sides have described the talks so far as "good" and expressed their desire for the process to continue. (QNA)
