MOCI Launches Initiative to Support Innovators, Inventors, and Rights Holders
Doha, February 16 (QNA) - The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) announced the launch of an initiative to support innovators, inventors and rights holders, in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and with the participation of University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST), Sidra Medicine, the Qatar Council for Research, Development and Innovation (QRDI), and the Qatar Scientific Club.
In a statement on Monday, the MOCI indicated that this initiative aims to provide a wide range of services to support innovators at various stages of innovation, from the idea and research stage to the creation, marketing and utilization of intellectual property assets.
The ministry noted that the services provided include support for preliminary searches in patent databases and information analysis, providing specialized technical advice to innovators and researchers, in addition to supporting the marketing of inventions and technology transfer.
The ministry explained that the initiative's services can be accessed by visiting the participating entities, namely the MOCI, UDST (for students and university affiliates only), Sidra Medicine, the Qatar Science Club, and the QRDI.
This initiative comes as part of the MOCI's commitment to strengthening the innovation and intellectual property system in Qatar, supporting the knowledge-based economy, and encouraging innovators and inventors to protect and invest their creations in a way that contributes to building a competitive and sustainable economy.
