Jordan Stresses Israel Has No Sovereignty Over Occupied Jerusalem, Sanctities
Amman, February 15 (QNA) - Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reaffirmed that Al-Aqsa Mosque, with its whole 144-dunum space, is a place for worship exclusively for Muslims.
In a statement, the ministry underlined that the Directorate of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem Affairs of the Jordan Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places is the sole legal entity that has the exclusive entitlement to administer Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs and regulate entry to this mosque.
Jordan expressed its absolute rejection and strong condemnation of the persistent incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque by ministers in the Israeli occupation government and members of the Israeli Knesset as a provocative act that intends to impose new realities on the Mosque in an attempt to divide it based on spatial and temporary patterns, the ministry stressed.
It cautioned against the consequences of these ongoing violations of the Islamic and Christian sacred places in occupied Jerusalem.
As such, Spokesperson for the Jordanian Foreign Ministry, Fouad Al Majali, called on the international community to take a tough position that compels Israel, the de facto occupying power, to stop its persistent violations and unlawful practices toward the Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem, as well as its desecration of the holy places.
