Doha, February 12 (QNA) - The 10th Field Disaster Management Training Camp (DMC-10) organized by the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) with support from the Qatar Fund For Development (QFFD), concluded Wednesday in Doha after nine days of intensive exercises.

The camp brought together over 300 trainers and trainees from Qatar and across the Middle East and North Africa.

HE QRCS Secretary General, Ibrahim bin Hashem Al Sada, said participants spent nine days engaging in collaborative activities, emphasizing a spirit of unity and shared purpose. "There were no barriers between trainers and trainees or between local and international participants," he said. "Everyone worked together to maximize learning, acquire new skills, and gain practical experience in disaster management."

The camp included a comprehensive program of theoretical lectures, practical exercises, simulation scenarios, and field drills covering emergency assessment, coordination, shelter management, water and sanitation, food security, livelihoods, emergency planning, health, communications, humanitarian standards, psychosocial support, and family reunification.

Representatives from 18 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Chad, Egypt, and Turkiye participated alongside Qatari institutions such as the QRCS, Qatar Charity, the Civil Defense Council, Qatar Social Work, Qatar Press Center and Sidra Medicine. Participants praised the program for its practical approach, cross-cultural exchange, and skill development.

Fares Al Mutairi from the Saudi Red Crescent described the experience as invaluable for enhancing both theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills, while Lebanon Tufla from the Lebanese Red Cross highlighted the opportunity to engage with diverse cultures and professional practices.

The QRCS emphasized that graduates of the camp now serve as ambassadors for disaster management, tasked with sharing their knowledge and ensuring the long-term impact of the training across their communities. (QNA)
