Ramallah, February 11 (QNA) - Israeli occupation authorities Wednesday renewed administrative detention orders against 38 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails from the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem.

The Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners' Club announced in a press statement a list of names of the detainees affected by the decisions, which included both new detention orders and extensions of existing ones.

The Commission stated that the orders were distributed as follows: four months for 16 prisoners, six months for 20 prisoners, while two prisoners received orders of five months and three months respectively.

Administrative detention constitutes imprisonment without charge or trial, and without allowing the detainee or their lawyer access to the evidence files, in clear violation of international humanitarian law, making Israel the only state that systematically applies this policy.

The occupation authorities justify these measures on the grounds of classified files that cannot be disclosed, leaving the detainee in custody without knowing the reason for their arrest or the duration of their detention. (QNA)
