Egyptian, Iranian Foreign Ministers Discuss De-escalation of Regional Tensions
Cairo, February 10 (QNA) - Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty discussed ways to de-escalate and contain the current escalation in the region during a phone call with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi.
In a statement today, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry noted that the Iranian Foreign Minister briefed his Egyptian counterpart on the latest developments related to the recent round of negotiations between the United States and Iran, which were hosted by the Sultanate of Oman.
For his part, Minister Abdelatty affirmed his country's full support for the negotiations and for all efforts aimed at de-escalation, stressing the importance of advancing dialogue and resolving all concerns through diplomatic and political channels, in a manner that enhances regional security and achieves stability and development for the peoples of the region.
The Egyptian foreign minister also underscored the importance of continuing the negotiation track between the United States and Iran, with the aim of reaching a peaceful, consensus-based settlement that addresses the concerns of all parties on the basis of mutual respect and shared interests, emphasizing the need to overcome any differences during this sensitive phase.
