Qatar Charity Launches Urgent Humanitarian Response for Displaced Persons in Gaza
Doha, November 08 (QNA) - Qatar Charity (QC) has launched an urgent humanitarian response to assist displaced persons in Gaza Strip following heavy rainfall last Saturday, marking the first low-pressure weather system to hit the territory. According to local authorities, downpour resulted in the flooding of 70,000 tents and affected approximately 350,000 displaced individuals.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the QC called on benefactors and donors to support its Winter Heroes campaign, which aims to respond to urgent calls for help, provide essential aid to affected families, and supply critical necessities, such as shelter, food, and warmth items, to alleviate severe humanitarian conditions compounded by the weather depression.
The initiative comes amid clear warnings from United Nations officials, who stated that nearly the entire population of Gaza Strip is in dire need of assistance and described the current situation as extremely tragic. This crisis is further exacerbated by existing restrictions and the ongoing blockade, while aid agencies have warned of further deterioration as the rainy season begins. (QNA)
