Doha, November 07 (QNA) - International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) President Jorge Viegas has commended the Lusail International Circuit for its exceptional organization of the 2026 Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar, the 20th round of the FIM MotoGP World Championship.
Speaking to the press, the head of the International Motorcycling Federation emphasized that the Lusail venue boasts world-class facilities, including some of the finest paddock and technical team areas globally.
Viegas noted that the positive atmosphere surrounding the event in Doha continually draws world champions and top riders back each year, driven by the exceptional infrastructure and operational success. He praised the partnership between the federation and the circuit, which has spanned over two decades, confirming that MotoGP will continue racing in Qatar for years to come thanks to a strong and collaborative relationship with local organizers.
Regarding the sporting outlook, Viegas declined to predict a winner for the Grand Prix, stressing that the competitive nature of the Lusail circuit leaves the battle wide open, with three or four premier-class riders capable of taking victory.
While acknowledging that the overall championship chase has tilted heavily in favor of Spain's Marc Marquez—barring a miraculous comeback from compatriot Jorge Martin in Sunday's race and the final two rounds—Viegas pointed out that fierce competition remains alive in other classes, notably in Moto2, where the title fight is still going down to the wire.
