Qatar Precision Health Institute Joins PMFG Summit 2026 as Strategic Partner and Co-Organizer
Doha, November 07 (QNA) - Sidra Medicine and Qatar Precision Health Institute (QPHI) have jointly announced QPHI as a strategic partner and co-organizer of the Precision Medicine and the Future of Genomics (PMFG) Summit 2026, which will take place from December 7 to 9, 2026.
For the second consecutive year, the partnership brings together two Qatar Foundation entities with complementary expertise in genomics, precision medicine and translational research. As strategic partner and co-organizer, QPHI will work alongside Sidra Medicine to support the scientific direction of the PMFG Summit 2026 and strengthen its focus on advancing precision health in Qatar and beyond.
Prof. Khalid Fakhro, Chief Research Officer at Sidra Medicine and Executive Chair of PMFG 2026 said: "Having QPHI as a strategic partner and co-organizer reflects the strength of a partnership that continues to shape the evolution of the PMFG Summit. Our organizations share a commitment to translating genomic discoveries into meaningful healthcare impact. QPHI's population-scale and multi-omics expertise complements Sidra Medicine's clinical and translational strengths, bringing together the full journey from discovery to personalized and preventive care."
QPHI is a national center for precision health research and implementation under Qatar Foundation. Its work focuses on advancing precision healthcare through genomics and multi-omics research. The institute combines population-scale and molecular insights to support translational research and the development of personalized and preventive healthcare.
Dr. Emmanouil Dermitzakis, President, Qatar Precision Health Institute and Chair of the PMFG Summit 2026 Leadership Committee, said: "Precision health in Qatar has made remarkable progress, built on a coordinated national strategy that QPHI is proud to lead, with Sidra Medicine as a key clinical partner. PMFG allows us to share that journey and learn from colleagues worldwide, because in a field evolving this quickly, the open exchange of ideas is how we all move forward."
Dr. Ammira Akil, Principal Investigator and Director of Metabolic and Mendelian Translational Program at Sidra Medicine and Managing Chair of PMFG Summit 2026 said: "This continuity matters: it allows us to build on what we started together and to design a program that connects scientific discovery with implementation and patient care. This year we have also made a deliberate effort to bring voices from across the Global South to the stage, because precision medicine can only be equitable if every population is represented in the science. QPHI's expertise across genomics, data science and precision health has been integral to shaping that vision".
PMFG Summit 2026 marks 12 years of Sidra Medicine's work in advancing dialogue and collaboration in precision medicine and genomics. The summit builds on a journey that began in 2014, when Sidra Medicine hosted the first precision medicine symposium in the Middle East.
The scientific program for the PMFG Summit 2026 will focus on four core areas: patient advocacy and next-generation therapeutics; building global reference genomes and strengthening genomic representation across the Global South; AI-driven discovery and the regulation of digital medicine; and delivering genomic medicine at scale through trusted biobanks, national programs and pediatric care. Sidra Medicine's and QPHI's input will jointly enrich the Summit's scientific program and create new opportunities for collaboration across research, clinical care and population health at a national and international level.
PMFG Summit 2026 will bring together clinicians, researchers, geneticists, data scientists, bioinformaticians, patient advocates, regulators, public health officials, policymakers, biotech innovators and industry partners. Discussions will focus on how advances in genomics, artificial intelligence and precision medicine can move from research to deliver real impact in clinical care and public health. (QNA)
