Japan's Nikkei Trims Losses as Bond Yields Rise
Tokyo, November 04 (QNA) - The Nikkei index trimmed its losses, while government bond yields rose on Wednesday after US President Donald Trump's remarks regarding the midterm elections proved less forceful than expected, prompting investors to unwind their stock-selling and bond-buying positions.
The Nikkei closed down 1.42 percent at 62,188.63 points, after falling by as much as 4.8 percent during the session, marking its lowest level since May 20.
Meanwhile, the broader Topix index fell 0.89 percent to 3,895.38 points.
Earlier in the session, Japanese stocks linked to artificial intelligence declined amid concerns that Democratic gains could lead to tighter regulations governing data center projects and a slowdown in spending on AI infrastructure.
The yield on 10-year Japanese government bonds rose by 3.5 basis points to 2.805 percent, after falling to 2.77 percent earlier in the session.
The yield on 30-year Japanese government bonds climbed by five basis points to 3.925 percent. (QNA)
