Doha, November 02 (QNA) - The Al Shaqab International Arabian Horse Show will kick off on Wednesday, bringing together purebred Arabian horses to compete for the tournament titles across various age categories.

Organized by Al Shaqab, a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), the four-day event runs through Nov. 7 at Al Shaqab's Longines Outdoor Arena in Doha.

The show is classified as an International B event under the rules of the European Conference of Arab Horse Organizations (ECAHO), with competitions held in accord with approved international standards. This reflects the organizational and technical standards that set Qatar-hosted Arabian horse shows apart.

The first day of competition gets underway at 3 p.m., featuring 14 classes for newborn fillies and colts, as well as fillies and colts aged one, two and three. The mare and stallion competitions are also divided into three age categories: four to six years, seven to 10 years, and 11 years and older.

The show features six final championships covering yearling fillies and colts, junior fillies and colts, mares and stallions. The top three finishers in the qualifying classes will advance to compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in each category.

The competitions will be held in accordance with the regulations and requirements approved by ECAHO, which govern the participation of eligible horses. Approved veterinary requirements will also be enforced to ensure the safety of participating horses and a level playing field for all competitors.

The event is part of Al Shaqab's efforts to bolster Qatar's standing on the international equestrian stage, support owners and breeders of purebred Arabian horses, preserve their bloodlines, and highlight the attention these horses receive as an integral part of Qatar's and the Arab world's heritage.

The four-day competition will conclude on Saturday, with the final championships and the crowning of title and medal winners. (QNA)
