Qatar's Awqaf and Qatar Charity Sign Partnership on Humanitarian Work Collaboration
Doha, October 08 (QNA) - Qatar's Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs and Qatar Charity have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening collaboration in endowments, zakat (giving to charity) and humanitarian and development work.
The five-year agreement, renewable by mutual consent, was signed by Awqaf's Assistant Undersecretary for Islamic Affairs Khalid Al Ghanem and CEO of Qatar Charity Yousef Al Kuwari.
The partnership seeks to establish a national model for institutional cooperation, bringing together the organizations' efforts to increase the sustainable social and development impact of their projects in Qatar and abroad.
Under the agreement, the two sides will coordinate humanitarian and development activities to avoid duplication, while working together on zakat collection and social and Sharia research. They will also study the establishment of a joint fund to support projects in Qatar and overseas that comply with Sharia requirements governing zakat funds.
The partnership will also expand cooperation on endowment projects abroad, including the construction of mosques, well drilling, educational endowments, sponsorship of orphans and families in need, and emergency relief efforts.
The agreement includes governance mechanisms and the appointment of coordinators from both sides to oversee implementation, with regular reports to measure results and assess performance. (QNA)
