Gulf 27: Saudi Arabia Crowned Champions for 4th Time After Defeating UAE
Jeddah, October 07 (QNA) - Saudi Arabia won the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup title after defeating the UAE 2-0 in the final held on Tuesday at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah.
The victory marks Saudi Arabia's fourth Gulf Cup title, following wins in 1994, 2002, and 2003, equaling Iraq as the second most successful team in the tournament's history, ending a 23-year title drought.
Hammam Al Hammami opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a strike from outside the box, followed two minutes later by Firas Al Buraikan finishing off a pass from Nasser Al Dawsari to double the lead.
Despite hit woodwork on both sides, including strikes from Saudi Arabia's Saleh Abu Al Shamat and the UAE's Nicolas Gimenez and Fabio Lima, Saudi Arabia held on to secure the trophy. (QNA)
