Arab League Warns of Dangers of Continued Israeli Violations of Syrian Sovereignty
Cairo, October 05 (QNA) - The Arab League strongly condemned the blatant and ongoing Israeli violations of the sanctity of Syria's borders, including the completion of work on the so-called "Sufa 53" Line, saying the actions constitute a flagrant violation of Syria's sovereignty and a clear breach of international law and the 1974 disengagement agreement.
In a statement Monday, Secretary-General of the Arab League, Nabil Fahmy, warned of the dangers posed by Israel's continued systematic violations and repeated incursions deep into Syrian territory, saying they pose a serious threat to security and stability in the region and risk expanding the fronts of conflict.
Fahmy also renewed his call for the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities, work to restrain Israel and compel it to respect the UN Charter and international law. He called for Israel's immediate withdrawal from Syrian territories it occupied after Dec. 8, 2024, and from the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, as well as an end to its unacceptable, provocative, and aggressive practices and its attempts to exploit the delicate circumstances facing the Syrian state to make incursions into its territory.
