6.0-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes off Coast of Vanuatu Islands
Port Vila, October 28 (QNA) - A 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Vanuatu island in the South Pacific on Wednesday.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) stated that the earthquake occurred 214 kilometers north-west of the town of Port-Olry, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
A 6.2-magnitude earthquake had also struck the coast of Vanuatu last Sunday.
Vanuatu, a volcanic archipelago in the South Pacific, lies along the "Ring of Fire", where tectonic plates meet and friction between them causes seismic activity. (QNA)
