Doha, October 27 (QNA) - Powered by Geekdom in partnership with Doha Film Institute and Qatar Museums, and sponsored by Qatar Calendar by Visit Qatar, the "Grendizer Xperienz" will take place in Doha from Dec. 10, 2026, to Jan. 16, 2027, to celebrate the hero who has captivated generations of Arab audiences since 1975.

Details of the experience were revealed on Tuesday at a press conference, where Abdulla Al Mosallam, Deputy CEO of Doha Film Institute and Founder of Geekdom, said: "We are delighted to collaborate with Qatar Museums to bring Grendizer Xperienz to Doha. It is a natural extension of Geekdom’s vision to create a space where pop culture fans come together to celebrate the stories that inspire them and allows them to express their creativity and connect with communities that share their interests. Since its launch, Geekdom has attracted a growing community of animation, gaming, comics and collectibles enthusiasts, confirming the increasing passion for this kind of culture in Qatar."

He added: "To many generations, Grendizer has been a gateway to the world of Japanese animation and a vast universe of imagination and adventure. We are proud to present this experience in Doha and invite visitors to go beyond the screen and immerse themselves in the world of this iconic character. Fans will be able to relive their childhood memories and new generations will discover its legacy and lasting place in cultural memory. This exhibition strengthens Geekdom’s contribution to enriching Qatar’s growing creative and cultural scene and reflects our mission to turn shared passion into experiences that bring people together, inspire imagination and build bonds that last across generations."

Mohamed Jaidah, Group Executive Director of Jaidah Group, Co-founder of Sixty Degrees and the Co- Curator of Grendizer Xperienz said: "For many of us who grew up in this region, Grendizer was never just a cartoon. It was a story about courage, loyalty and standing up for what is right, and it stayed with us long after it left our screens."

Jaidah noted that "UFO Robot Grendizer first aired in Japan in 1975, and its Arabic-dubbed version went on to become an integral part of childhood for viewers across the Arab world," adding that "fifty years later, its hero, Duke Fleed, remains one of the most enduring cartoon characters in the region’s memory." He added: "Hosting Grendizer Xperienz in Doha is an opportunity to pass this story on to a new generation, alongside partners who share our belief in the power of culture to bring people together."

Sheikha Aisha Al-Thani, Director of Strategy and Marketing at Dukhan Bank, said:

"We are proud at Dukhan Bank to be the exclusive Bank Sponsor of Grendizer Xperienz in Doha, in collaboration with Qatar Museums. Our sponsorship reaffirms our commitment to supporting culture and the arts in Qatar, as well as initiatives that offer the community distinctive experiences."

Powered by Geekdom in partnership with Doha Film Institute, the experience takes place from Dec. 10, 2026, to Jan. 16, 2027. Visitors can get immersed in the world of Grendizer through a complete journey across the legendary hero’s history, from his earliest beginnings to his latest releases.

Grendizer Xperienz features a wide collection of rare original work that highlight its Japanese, French and Italian versions alongside the Arabic one, its exclusive content blending memories of the classic series with its latest series, Grendizer U. Further details about the experience, including the programme and visitor information, will be announced in the coming weeks.

UFO Robot Grendizer was created by Japanese artist Go Nagai and produced by Toei Animation, and aired over 74 episodes between 1975 and 1977. The Arabic version was dubbed in Lebanon with actor Jihad Al-Atrash voicing Duke Fleed, going on to become one of the most prominent dubbed works in the history of Arab television.

The experience connects the past with Grendizer’s renewed presence among new generations following his return in 2023 in the video game UFO Robot Grendizer: The Feast of the Wolves and the new anime series Grendizer U in 2024. (QNA)
