Washington, October 27 (QNA) - Apple has announced a new version of its iPad mini tablet, equipped with an 8.5-inch OLED screen and an A20 Pro processor, in addition to improvements in sound, connectivity, and artificial intelligence processing capabilities, at a starting price of $700.

The nano-texture screen option reduces reflections. Meanwhile, the OLED screen is capable of reaching a peak brightness of 1,200 nits, or twice as bright as the 2024 iPad mini. It can also sustain 600 nits of full-screen brightness across both SDR and HDR content, according to Apple.

The new screen represents the most prominent improvement in the device, as it is expected to provide deeper colors and better contrast, especially when watching videos and photos. Apple also introduced a new audio technology in the device called "Acoustic Display", which integrates low-frequency speakers into the screen structure to improve bass depth and raise the volume.

The company closed the device's body to enhance its protection from water and dust, receiving an IP67 rating. The new iPad mini runs on the A20 Pro processor, which debuted with the iPhone 18 Pro earlier this year, and offers higher performance than the A17 Pro processor used in the 2024 version.

Apple confirms that the new processor enhances the speed of performing daily tasks, in addition to artificial intelligence processing capabilities, with the ability to run large language models locally on the device without completely relying on cloud services. The device also includes an internally developed N1 chip to support Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread technology.

The cellular version uses the C2 modem, which provides 50% higher data speed compared to the previous generation. The device offers a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera for more natural-looking video calls. On the back, you get a single 12MP camera with Smart HDR 4 support and 4K video capture at 60 frames per second. (QNA)
