Ramallah, October 26 (QNA) - Palestinian organizations concerned with prisoners' affairs confirmed on Monday that the Israeli occupation authorities continue to detain more than 90 Palestinian women, subjecting them to systematic crimes and violations within Israeli occupation prisons and interrogation centers, while denying them necessary medical treatment and basic hygiene supplies.

In a statement issued on Monday, the organizations explained that violations against female detainees encompass physical and psychological torture, intentional starvation, and medical negligence. They noted that scabies spread extensively among the detainees, whereas the prison administration denies the outbreak and refuses to administer necessary medical care.

The statement indicated that human rights institutions documented more than 810 cases of Palestinian women being arrested since October 7, 2023, spanning the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and the 1948 occupied territories, with the most recent arrest involving a young woman in Hebron today. Meanwhile, no definitive statistics are available regarding the total number of women detained from Gaza Strip.

According to the statement, more than 90 Palestinian women remain in Israeli occupation custody, including two minors and 22 women held under administrative detention without charge or trial. The group includes several detainees suffering from critical medical conditions, including cancer.

The organizations emphasized that the systematic targeting of Palestinian women forms an integral part of a broader assault on Palestinian society. They asserted that the plight of female detainees transcends statistical documentation of abuses, touching upon a woman's fundamental right to freedom, safety, and dignity, while underscoring the urgent necessity of holding perpetrators accountable.

The statement reiterated calls for the international human rights framework to implement concrete measures to enforce accountability, prosecute those responsible for war crimes and grave violations, end systemic impunity, provide immediate protection for female Palestinian prisoners alongside all other detainees, and act decisively to dismantle policies of oppression, torture, and arbitrary detention.
