Aspetar Takes Part in Sixth Meeting of AFC Medical Committee
Kuala Lumpur, October 02 (QNA) - Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital participated in the sixth meeting of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Medical Committee that took place at the AFC's headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Friday.
The meeting announced a series of landmark advancements for sports science in Asia, including recommending the Vietnam Football Federation as the Host Association for the prestigious AFC Medical Conference in 2027 alongside the implementation of new safety heading protocols for children.
Vietnam will host the event for the first time in Hanoi. The ninth edition of the conference will look to build on the momentum of the recently concluded eighth iteration in Kuala Lumpur, which drew a record of more than 800 international sports medicine professionals.
During the meeting, the Medical Committee approved the Sejong Sports Medicine and Performance Center as an AFC Medical Centre of Excellence, enabling it to serve as a foundational asset for professional player development and recovery across East Asia.
The Committee further approved the 'Heading and Safety Guidelines in Children's Football'. The landmark framework follows a proposal by the AFC Technical Committee during its fourth meeting last month, which had noted that the guidelines required the crucial validation of medical experts before implementation.
It should be noted that all decisions need to be ratified by the AFC Executive Committee before taking effect. (QNA)
