Doha, October 14 (QNA) - Media City Qatar has completed production of two original Arabic drama series, "Lamma Shefet" and "Kawalees", a year after announcing support for the projects at the MIPCOM Cannes international television market.
The series, developed by licensed production company ImagiQ Productions, star Aimee Sayah and Mohamad Al Ahmad in "Lamma Shefet", and Dima Kandalaft in "Kawalees".
The announcement comes as Media City Qatar expands its portfolio of locally produced content, with more than 30 projects supported to date across television, film, documentaries, gaming and podcasts.
The portfolio includes 10 documentaries, seven shows and programs, five series, five films, three games and two podcasts.
Three films produced by companies licensed by Media City Qatar have been selected for the special screenings program at the 2026 Doha Film Festival.
They include "First to Fly", a documentary by Alaqat following two young gymnasts competing at the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships, with filming taking place in Qatar, Bulgaria and Madagascar.
"Jodari Meno", produced by The Film House, follows Qatari spearfisher Jamal on a journey from Qatar to Zanzibar and Italy in pursuit of a record-breaking dogtooth tuna.
The third film, "A Very Ordinary Life", produced by Lusail Films, centers on the discovery of a buried family secret and is expected to be released soon.
Media City Qatar's activities also extend to international broadcasting and digital content.
Since its launch in October 2025, the weekly 30-minute program "CNN Creators" has been produced in Doha for television, digital and social media platforms, connecting stories from Qatar with international audiences.
A partnership with Euronews, established in 2021, has delivered more than 550 episodes across five programs, generating more than 11 billion television impacts and nearly 60 million YouTube views, according to Media City Qatar.
The collaboration includes four original programs produced in Doha: "Qatar in Motion", "Grand Voyager", "Cult" and "Focus".
In music, "Nabd Qatar", produced by Media City Qatar-licensed company Rahbani 3.0, premiered during the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 final on Qatar National Day, featuring the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra.
Media City Qatar is also seeking to strengthen local production capabilities by supporting training, professional development and opportunities for emerging talent.
Licensed company RCD Media organized a masterclass with two-time Academy Award winner Asghar Farhadi, giving around 60 members of Qatar’s film-making and creative community the opportunity to learn from the Iranian director.
Other initiatives include training through the Euronews Academy Bootcamp and CNN Academy Media, as well as internships for three Northwestern University in Qatar students at Euronews' headquarters in Brussels.
The initiatives aim to provide practical experience, develop industry skills and expand the pool of talent available to future productions in Qatar.
Media City Qatar chief executive Hamad Omar Al Mannai said supporting creative businesses involved creating the conditions for producers, filmmakers and media companies to develop projects in Qatar and reach international markets.
He said the organization's participation in MIPCOM Cannes 2026 would highlight Qatar's efforts to strengthen regional storytelling, production and international collaboration.
Media City Qatar offers companies 100% foreign ownership, licensing support, financial and business incentives, and production and broadcasting infrastructure as part of efforts to establish Qatar as a regional and international hub for media and creative industries. (QNA)
