Al Wakrah Beat Al Shamal, Strengthen Lead in Volleyball League

Doha, January 31 (QNA) - Al Wakrah secured a 3-0 win over Al Shamal in their match on Saturday, part of the second division of the Qatar Men's Volleyball League, which is being held at the Qatar Volleyball Association (QVA) Hall with the participation of 10 clubs.
Al Wakrah's results were 25-21, 25-14, 25-17.
With this victory, Al Wakrah strengthened their lead in the league standings, raising their points tally to 34, four points ahead of Al Arabi in second place. Al Shamal remains in eighth place with nine points.
Al Wakrah's victory comes before their departure to Kuwait, alongside Al Rayyan (the defending champions), to participate in the fourth West Asian Men's Volleyball Club Championship, which will take place from February 4 to 14.
In another match, Al Shorta defeated Al Gharafa 3-0 with 26-24, 25-17, 25-19.
Al Shorta raised their points tally to 27, securing fourth place, just one point behind Al Rayyan in third.
The second division competitions continue tomorrow with a single match between Al Khor, currently in seventh place with 11 points, and Qatar, in fifth place with 19 points.
In the first division of the Women's Volleyball League, Al Rayyan defeated Al Sadd 3-0, Al Arabi beat Al Wakrah by the same score, and Al Ahli triumphed over Al Khor 3-2. In the Junior Women's Volleyball League, Al Khor defeated Al Ahli 3-0, Al Arabi beat Qatar Foundation by the same score, and Al Rayyan beat Al Sadd 3-1.
Meanwhile, Al Shamal won the second edition of the U17 Beach Volleyball Championship, with Al Sadd finishing second and Qatar third.
The teams were crowned by Mohammed Anbar, a member of the QVA's beach volleyball committee. (QNA)
